Publishing a Book Should Not Feel This Lonely

There is a version of publishing a book that gets sold to a lot of writers that sounds something like this: "Just write the book. Sign the contract. Send it off. The publisher will handle the rest."
And at first, that sounds like relief.
But what happens when the emails slow down? When the updates become vague? When you are watching your book exist in the world, but you feel strangely disconnected from it?
That is the part nobody really prepares you for. And if I am honest with you, it can feel incredibly lonely.
I have walked through a publishing experience where I trusted the process, trusted the system, and trusted that there would be more communication, more clarity, more partnership than there actually was. Nothing dramatic. Nothing loud. Just a slow realization that I was holding something deeply meaningful...and I was holding it alone.
And that's the part that sticks with you.
Because writing a book is personal. But publishing it is supposed to be shared.
God Never Designed You to Build Alone
There's a reason Scripture keeps circling back to community.
"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour." - Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV
"For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow..." - Ecclesiastes 4:10 KJV
Not one. Not isolated. Not silently figuring it out while hoping someone notices you are struggling.
Two.
That's God's design.
And yet so many authors find themselves trying to build, promote, learn, and navigate the publishing world in isolation...wondering why it feels heavier than it should.
It is not because you are doing it wrong. It is because you are doing it alone.
The Truth No One Says Out Loud
Publishing does not require writing skills. It requires:
Clarity when everything feels confusing
Encouragement when momentum slows
Strategy when overwhelm kicks in
Community when doubt gets loud
And without those things, even the most called, gifted writer can start to feel like they are drowning in something they were meant to walk through with others.
That is not failure. That is lack of covering.
You Were Never Meant to Disappear After "The Book is Done"
A book is not just a finished project. It is a message. A mission. A seed.
And seeds do not grow well in isolation. They need soil, care, and the right environment to thrive.
That is why I am so passionate about building spaces where Christian authors do not just publish, but are actually supported through the process. Where you do not feel like you are guessing your way through something that matters deeply to you. Where you can ask questions without feeling "behind." Where you can grow without pressure to pretend you already know everything.
You Need a Community That Actually Holds You
If you have been searching for a place where you can be:
Encouraged
Equipped
Prayed for
Just understood as a writer trying to obey God with your words
Then I want to invite you into our FREE Facebook group: Christian Authors with Marilyn Jeanne Designs.
It is not just another group collecting digital dust. It is a space for real conversation, real support, and real growth. Because writing for God should never feel like isolation dressed up as purpose.
And We Are Building Something Bigger...But We Need Your Voice
We are currently working on something special for Christian authors...a more structured way to support you beyond inspiration and into real, practical growth.
But we do not want to build it in a vacuum. We want to build it with you.
Your struggle. Your questions. Your gaps. Your needs.
That's what shapes what comes next. If you are willing, would you take a few minutes to fill out this market survey?
Your input does not just help us build a better resource...it helps us make sure no author feels like they have to walk this journey alone again.
You Are Not Late. You Are Not Behind. You Are Not Alone.
If publishing has felt heavier than you expected, it is not because you missed something. It is because you were never meant to carry it without community. And maybe today is the day that changes. Not because everything suddenly gets easy...but because you stop doing it alone.
And that changes everything.
